The Ghana Statistical Service has organised a two-day training workshop on administrative data compilation for some selected staff of the North East Gonja District Assembly from Monday, April 3rd to Tuesday, April 4th, 2023, at the Assembly’s Conference room.
The objectives of the two days’ workshop were to train various officers on how to compile a strong database for each department; reduce the challenges Planning Officers face during Medium Term Development Planning and Annual Progress Report preparation, and how compilation of administrative data helps to review performance and in solving development issues.
The facilitators were Alhaji Abdullah Andani-Savannah Regional Statistician, Mr. Alhassan Baba Musah-Senior Development Planning Officer and Mr. Martin Torbizo-Regional Statistics Officer, GES.
In their presentations they focused on the role of data collection in preparing Medium Term Development Plan that will reflect in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Mr. Alhassan Baba Musah said data collection guides policies and legislative documents in order to coordinate programmes for economic and social development.
The Regional Statistician, Alhaji Abdullah Andani encouraged the participants to apply the knowledge gained in the training process in their administrative work because lack of data delays in data submission which ultimately affects its usefulness to the nation.
