The North East Gonja District Assembly continued it's commissioning exercise on Sunday, 12th July, 2026, with the official handing over of key health infrastructure projects in the communities of Kanakulai, Gidanturu, and Tantuani. The exercise was led by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Mumin Ewuntonmah, and the Member of Parliament for Salaga North Constituency, Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Mumuni. Also present were Heads of Departments and Units of the District Assembly, officials from the District Health Directorate, the District Ghana Education Service (GES), traditional authorities, and members of the beneficiary communities.
At Kanakulai, the delegation commissioned a CHPS Compound with a 2-unit Nurses’ Accommodation. The facility is expected to improve access to quality primary healthcare services while providing suitable accommodation for health personnel serving the community.
The team then proceeded to Gidanturu, where a 3-unit Nurses’ Accommodation was commissioned to address accommodation challenges faced by healthcare workers and enhance healthcare delivery within the area.
At Tantuani, a CHPS Compound with a 2-unit Nurses’ Accommodation was commissioned. The project is expected to strengthen community-based healthcare services and improve access to essential health care for residents of the community and its surrounding areas.
Addressing the gathering, the DCE and MP emphasized the importance of maintaining the facilities to ensure their long-term benefits to the people. Community members expressed their gratitude to the government, the District Assembly, and all stakeholders for bringing much-needed health infrastructure closer to the people.
