The North East Gonja District commemorated Ghana’s 68th Independence Day with grand and colorful celebrations held in the district capital, Kpalbe. The event brought together seven schools that showcased impressive march-past performances, highlighting discipline and patriotism among the students.


The Member of Parliament for the Constituency (Salaga North), Hon. Alhassan Mumuni, was the guest of honor at the event. He was joined by the Coordinating Director of the North East Gonja District Assembly (Mr. Issah Imoro), who represented the absence of a District Chief Executive (DCE).
Also in attendance were the Kpalbewura and his elders, the District Chief Imam, Alhaji Nuhu, and officials from the District Education Directorate and the Staff members of the District Assembly adding prestige to the occasion.

In his address, Hon. Alhassan Mumuni commended the schools for their remarkable performances and urged all workers in the district, especially teachers, to continue their dedicated efforts towards the development of the young district. He emphasized the critical role of education in the progress of the district and the nation at large.
As part of his contributions to the celebration, the MP donated ten bicycles to deserving participants to facilitate their movement to and from their respective schools. Additionally, he presented footballs, trophies and cash prizes to the top three schools that excelled in the march-past competition, which included both primary and junior high schools.


In the primary school category, Royal Galaxy Primary School emerged as the overall winner, securing the first position. Libi D/A Primary claimed the second spot, while Kpalbe Islamic Primary took the third position.
At the junior high school level, Libi D/A JHS earned the first place, demonstrating exceptional coordination and spirit. Kpalbe Islamic JHS followed closely, securing the second position, and Samakuse JHS claimed the third spot in the competition.
